10 Ways To Use an Essential Oil Blend

Conventional perfume is pretty boring: you spray it on.

But with essential oils, you’re able to incorporate them into your beauty routine, cleaning solutions, and throughout your home and office.

I personally use a diffuser daily to help keep my home smelling amazing and to set the tone for the day.  Plus, you're not exposing yourself to man-made chemicals.

How do you want to feel when you get ready in the morning? How do you want to feel when you meditate at night? What about when you soak in a warm bath...

Having a stressed out Monday morning? I recommend our Chill Pill Blend.

As you probably already know, essential oils are the most powerful components of a plant concentrated into a small amount of liquid.

So the question I'm answering today is: how do you use them?

And more specifically: how do you use an essential oil blend?

Essential oil blends combine several essential oils together, giving you well-rounded benefits and a more complex fragrance experience.

For example, if you want a relaxing experience, you can use a blend of lavender and ylang-ylang. The possibilities are endless.

Here are 10 ways you can use essential oil blends:

1. Laundry

After your washer has filled with water and you’ve added your detergent, add about 5 drops of essential oils that smells heavenly.

Or, add a couple drops to a dry piece of cotton and use that instead of dryer sheets.  Dryer sheets contain a ton of chemicals.

2. A Few Drops on Your Wrists and Neck

The simplest way to use an essential oil is to dab a couple drops onto your wrists, similarly to how you’d use perfume.

Of course, you’ll want to choose an essential oil that you really love, and it’s important to do a patch test first before putting an essential oil directly on your skin.

3. In a Diffuser

Using a diffuser with essential oils is an easy way to make your space smell amazing and use aromatherapy to help shape your day. At work? Perhaps an energizing Invigorate blend. In a melancholy mood? The Comfort blend is great at lifting your spirits.

There are lots of different types of diffusers, from the simple candlelit type to those that plug in and spray an oil-infused mist. Amazon has a great selection of inexpensive diffusers.

4. In your Bath

A few drops of essential oil in your bath will take romance to the next level. Be sure to check your email for our new aroma-perfume roll-on's coming out just in time for Valentine's Day!

I also recommend 5 drops of our Tension Ease in the tub to ease achy muscles, joints, and arthritis.

5. Carrier Oil

For those with sensitive skin, you may favor mixing your essential oils with a carrier oil. This way, you dilute the powerful properties of the essential oil and can apply it just like you would a moisturizer.

Examples of carrier oils are coconut, jojoba, avocado, almond and grapeseed.

6. Just to Smell

You can enjoy the aromatherapy of your essential oil blend without even taking it out of the bottle.

Simply open up the bottle and smell. This can be really helpful before a job interview, or before a date.

7. Refreshing Hair

We recommend not washing your hair everyday, and using essential oils is great way to keep it smelling lovely in between. I love adding a couple drops to coconut oil to moisturize split ends and perfume my hair simultaneously.

I also like mixing my essential oils with apple cider vinegar and water in a little spray bottle to help balance the pH of my hair while giving it a lasting aroma.

8. For Cleaning

Tons of natural cleaning recipes call for essential oils, like our bathtub scrub, counter top cleaner and carpeting refresher. You can download them here.

You may also like putting a couple drops of essential oils in your vacuum cleaner bag, or on a few cotton balls and leave them at the bottom of your garbage can.

9. Room & Body Spray

If you don’t want to invest in a diffuser, you can create an aromatherapy linen/body spray and spritz it around your room, your clothes, or even on your pillow.

10. In the Garden

Are Aphids bugging your garden?  Try a peppermint essential oil and a neem oil combo.  Use our Bug Repel essential oil blend on a few cotton balls to keep ants and spiders at bay.
